snow days

The past two weeks have only included 1 1/2 days of teaching and many snow days. Last week we didn't really have much snow/ice but there were very freezing temps (8 degrees!) and threats all week. But this week we got the snow! We went to school for a few hours Wednesday and then went home in anticipation of the big snow storm headed to Chattanooga. They said it would start at 2, then 3, then 4, then 5. It was 4 and on a limb I decide to take my pup for one more run before the snow hit. The forecast for 5 was correct. On my last mile flakes started coming down hard. It was simply beautiful and I couldn't help but smile the whole way. The snow kept coming down and didn't stop until around 3 or 4am. 7-8 inches accumulates here at 525. It seriously looked like Narnia outside.

In life groups we have been studying about creation and the proof that God is alive and real. We have been looking at arguments that He is our Creator, no doubts about it. This snow can't help but justify even further that our God is real. He created this! It remind me of a scripture we looked at recently in Job 38 where God answers Job. God reassures Job that He is the Creator of all things. Pretty powerful chapter!

Dining Room Makeover

Caleb and I moved into our little 1939 house in late November of 2013, just a few short months after being married! As soon Caleb told me he downloaded the Zillow app I knew that he was no longer "just looking." I love our little house and the charm it has. When it became ours there was wallpaper everywhere. We tried to remove it all and paint before we moved in. Here is a our transformation of our dining room!

Before: striped wallpaper with a glistening floral pattern. Yes. Our friend Kyle helped us remove it, only to find a very 60s floral wallpaper! Needless to say we just removed the top layer of wallpaper and painted over it. I'm ok with that!

I always dreamed of my dining room being a green color so I settled with green tea leaves. But after living in our house for awhile I noticed the dining room gets most of its light in the morning. It just seemed too dark for the room, so I went with a new paint color, subtle taupe, and love it much better!

Caleb and I have always talked about what pieces we want in our house and whether he can build them or not (it's always yes!) We had a dream of a farmhouse table where we could seat lots of our friends and family for dinner. It's important to us to share meals with each other and to have many meaningful conversations here. After looking around on Pinterest at several different styles, we wanted this one from Anawhite.com. If you haven't checked out her site- GO! We are addicted.

Here are some pictures of the process and final product!

Then I found the PERFECT chairs and the PERFECT chandelier from World Market! Caleb agreed!
